Guava leaves

There are times when it seems too much, too fast, calls, messages, activities and worries. We are working even when we are sitting down. At such times we all miss something that is simple, something cool.

Personally, one of those things that are very comfortable to me is a cup of hot guava leafed tea. It is not fancy or expensive. It only takes a couple leaves and a little boiling water and some quiet time to breathe.

You might have come across the medicinal values of guava fruit but it is the guava leaf that is getting a reputation of its own especially in terms of reducing irritability and soothing the mind in a natural way.

In this article, we are going to see how guava leaf tea may make you gain a little peace in the press of things - no pills, no side effects, just the word of mouth relic of time.

What is guava leaf tea?

We all know guava as a fruitful fruit which has sweet and tangy taste as well as rich in Vitamin C. But did you know that its leaves are equally potent. Guava leaves are rich in antioxidants, flavonoids and natural substances and they benefit both body and mental state.

These leaves are boiled as tea from which they release their therapeutic ones, give warm, earthy drink which can soothe your nerves refresh your body system. You can drink it in the morning or at night – it is caffeine free and gentle to your tum as well.

The Guava Leaves Stress Fighting Powers

By making use of guava leaf tea, you will be able to eliminate stress and anxiety in the following ways:

1. Antioxidants are well sourced by it.

Guava Leaves

The guava leaves are quite rich in quercetin and catechins as antioxidants. These contribute to a reduction in the prevalence of oxidative stress in the brain- which is one of the other silent causes of anxiety. Free radicals produced by your body are harmful to your body because of stress. To them, antioxidants are neutral creams because they will bring your system in balance.

Personal note: My nani would used to prepare guava leaf tea when we had to take board exams. She felt that it quiets the mind. This was a joke then but now, I would say she was ahead of her time!

2. Maintains Cortisol regulation

Cortisol is the prime stress hormone in your body. When it goes high you get to feel anxious, restless, and even irritable. Guava leaves have proven to naturally control the levels of cortisol in the body without any side effects of the synthetic pills.

3. improved sleep

Poor sleep is one of the most terrible effects of stress. The tea of guava leaves has a slight sedative effect that can make your body and mind relax and thus it is easy to sleep and continue sleeping. Less stress = better sleep.

4. Improves the functioning of the gut.

Your question is likely to be, What does my stomach have to do with my stress? Quite a bit, in fact. The gut and the brain are linked by what is known as gut-brain axis. Poor digestion gives way to a bad mood. Guava leaves help in digestion and they also decrease the bloating which helps in increasing your mood.

Imagine that it is not something that is used as a temporary quit smoking remedy anymore, but a restful daily routine, a couple of minutes of me-time.

The Conclusions: A Gulp of Tranquility in a Hurried World

We all need things that hold us together in life: things that anchor us, things that put the brakes on us and things that tell us to breathe. In others, it is yoga. To others, it is music or taking a stroll in nature. Many people got used to easy remedies such as a cup of guava leaves tea even me.

When stress beats at your door the next time, do not pick up your phone or unhealthy food. All you need to do is boil some water and add a few guava leaves and leave nature to do its work.

You will be astonished at what a kind of humble leaf would cause an inward sense of peace.
